A New YearA New Year

As you set forth your plan for the New Year, please consider adding these Resolutions to your list:

  • Further your Masonic education. Read more about masonry. We have plenty of great books in our lodge library!
  • Improve your ritual work. Join us each Monday as the brothers meet to teach and learn our work.
  • Make an effort to attend Masonic funeral services. The families request a masonic funeral service because Freemasonry obviously meant a lot to the deceased Brother & his family. Make an extra effort to show them that it means a lot to you as well.
  • Help aid and assist those in need. Specifically, ask the Senior Warden of our lodge if there is a member, widow, or other person that you could keep in contact with and help when necessary.
  • Show brotherly love to all mankind. It is our duty to convince the world of the greater good of masonry through our deeds and actions.

Here is a final thought for the New Year from Brother Theodore Roosevelt:

ThanksgivingThanksgiving

We met at the Lodge on Saturday November 17, 2012 for a wonderful meal in honor of the Thanksgiving Tradition. We had a great time visiting with family and friends and gave thanks for the many blessings that each of us share this holiday season.

Below are a few photos from the dinner along with the original Thanksgiving proclamation given by brother George Washington 223 years ago.

 

THANKSGIVING DAY 1789
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA – A PROCLAMATION

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor – and Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.”

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be – That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks – for his kind care and protection of the People of this country previous to their becoming a Nation – for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his providence, which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war –for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed – for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

2012 Race For The Children2012 Race For The Children

It has been another successful year for the Race For The Children sponsored by Lewisville Masonic Lodge No. 201.

We really appreciate all the brothers that helped us plan and promote this race as well as the brothers who helped us on the actual day of the race. We had a great turnout with a record number of students joining us this year!

The Race For The Children is right around the corner and things are really heating up!

We already have over 100 runners preregistered for the race and we expect to double that amount of runners on race day. We are also expecting a much bigger turnout from the schools this year.

We are going to need all the help we can get on race day!

We are having our final staging RFTC meeting Wednesday at 6:30pm. Please come find out how you can help. If you can’t make the meeting please join us Saturday September 15th at 6:00am in the field next to Lewisville City Hall and help us setup for this year’s race.

This golf scramble will help raise funds to conduct the 8th annual Race For the Children. We have various sponsorship packages to accommodate every budget. We would sincerely appreciate the assistance of the brethren in obtaining sponsors for the Scramble. Please promote the Platinum, Gold, and Hole sponsorships which all come with free teams in the scramble before you solicit teams to play in the tournament. We believe we can fill all the team slots reasonably easy, so it is important we attempt to raise as much money as possible for the race and our charities first.

We need 10-15 brothers to help put on the scramble. If you want to help us work the course on the day of the scramble please contact one of the Race Committee Members. To the Brothers and families of Lewisville Lodge and to our Sisters and Brothers of the Eastern Star and their families:

Lewisville Lodge will serve our Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday November 19th at 6:00 PM.

This year except for the Turkey the meal will be a Pot Luck meal.

We hope to have a good turn out and we are asking for help from all of you great cooks! You can help by bringing your favorite dish.

The following is a list of things that our Senior Steward has requested for the meal.

The Turkey will be catered by Old Town Meat Market, but don’t let this stop you if you want to bring turkey or ham or another meat entree that goes with the occasion.

We need help in the following items.

Bread:

Rolls

Cornbread

Other –

Cranberry Sauce

Dressing (and lots of it!):

Vegetables

Corn dish

Green Beans

Mashed Potatoes-n-Gravy

Sweet Taters

Casseroles and Creative Side Dishes

Don’t forget the Green Bean Casserole

Desserts (my favorite part):

Pumpkin Pie

Nanner Pudding

Apple Pie

Others

And anything else you think we would enjoy with the Thanksgiving Meal.
Our Steward has a signup sheet at the Lodge for the dish(s) you will bring. He needs this for coordination and planning.
