Lewisville Masonic Lodge News

If you have not been to your lodge recently, you are missing out on a lot of great things!  For instance, did you know:

1.  We have three candidates who will soon be Entered Apprentice in our lodge.

2.  We currently have 10 Entered Apprentices working on their EA work.

3.  We have currently have 2 Fellow Craft working on their FC work.

In keeping with Grand Master Donny Broughton's goal of all Entered Apprentice and Fellow Craft Masons having mentors, our lodge has Master Masons who have volunteered to be mentors to the 12 men who are currently working to becoming Master Masons.  We would like to thank for following men for taking on this great endeavor:  Bro. Bill Barber, Bro. Jim Brittain, Bro. Ronnie Davidson, Bro. Larry FitzPatrick, Bro. Jason Geddis, Bro. James Higgins, Bro. Mark Kirkman, Bro. Chuck Massey, Bro. Davis Watkins, Bro. Lloyd Woodard, and Bro. W. Scott Wilson.

If you are interested in being a mentor one of our soon to be Entered Apprentices please contact Larry FitzPatrick at:

 lfitz7@verizon.net

He will be glad to talk to you about this great opportunity to be involved in helping to build a strong foundation for our great fraternity.  If you have not been to lodge in a while, this might be a great way to get re-energized and involved in your lodge!

Now that we have successfully celebrated our 150th Anniversary, we will begin to gear up for other great events in the not so distant future.  We have our Annual Pancake Breakfast in April to honor the Lewisville Police and Fire Departments.  We will also begin to move into high gear in planning for and obtaining sponsors for the 2007 Race For The Children.   We hope you will consider helping your lodge in planning and executing a great successful race for 2007.  It takes all the brothers to make this best event it can possibly be, the more we have involved the more great things we can accomplish!

Lewisville Masonic Lodge celebrates 150th anniversary

10:50 PM CDT on Thursday, March 22, 2007

The Lewisville Masonic Lodge No. 201 celebrated its 150th anniversary March 10, at the Celebrations Grand Ballroom in Highland Village.

The anniversary celebration was attended by more than 170 Masons, their families and several notable guests and dignitaries, who offered remarks and presentations recognizing the 150 years of Freemasonry in the Lewisville and Flower Mound area.

Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Texas, Elmer Murphey, III, presented a $4,600 check to Fred Placke, President of the Lewisville ISD school board, on behalf of the Lewisville Lodge and the Texas Masonic Charities Foundation. The donation was made from the proceeds raised from last year’s Race for the Children hosted by the Lewisville Masonic Lodge.

Lewisville Mayor Gene Carey and Flower Mound Deputy Mayor Pro tem Jeff Tasker each presented proclamations to the Lodge, recognizing their contributions to the local community over the last 150 years.

United States Representative Michael Burgess, Congressman from the 26th District was on hand to present a copy of Congressional Record of his remarks recognizing the celebration. Burgess also presented the Lodge with an American flag that had flown over the United States Capital.

Boy Scout Troop 729 served as honor guard as they presented the United States and Texas flags. Music was provided by the Lewisville High School Choir under the direction of Terri Jarvis.

Grand Master Donny Broughton of the Grand Lodge of Texas was the evening's keynote speaker.

Information for this report was submitted by Tim Browning, member of the Lewisville Masonic Lodge No. 201.
