Welcome Visitors and Masonic Brothers!
Thank you for visiting the Lewisville Masonic Lodge’s web site. Our Lodge, chartered in 1857 as a member of the Grand Lodge of Texas, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, is the oldest Masonic Lodge in Denton County. We are an active Lodge in the community and in the Brotherhood of Freemasonry. We continue to reach out to those in need in accordance with our charitable purposes and Masonic obligation. Worshipful Masters Message
To the Brethren of Lewisville Lodge:
Once again our lodge has experienced the annual “Passing of the Gavel” And we have now installed a new line of elected and appointed Blue lodge Officers. It is with great love of our gentle craft and a deep determination to help our Lodge to grow and prosper that I humbly pick up the gavel and commence this labor.
I want to assure each member of this lodge that being elected as your Worshipful Master is an honor I will cherish all the days of my life. I promise to each member that I will, with your assistance, good council, and prayers, do my level best to serve our lodge day and night during my term. Furthermore, I want to assure you that you have elected a group of extremely dedicated Masons who will work together, and who will always make decisions based on Masonic principals and what is best for the Lodge. Each of us knows that we have been elected and appointed to serve you the members of Lewisville Lodge.
For those seeking Information on Masonry and Lewisville Lodge:
I have been asked by several non-
The principal tenets of our profession are Three: Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth, and are explained as…
Brotherly Love
By the exercise of brotherly love, we are taught to regard the whole human species as one family, the high and the low, and the rich and the poor; who are created by one Almighty Parent and inhabitants of the same planet. Men are to aid, support and protect each other. On this principal masonry unites men of every country, sect and opinion, and promotes true friendship among those who might have otherwise have remained at a perpetual distance. The members of this lodge include doctors, lawyers, politicians, and
others involved in manufacturing, retail, laborers and yes even one self professed garbologist. They all readily come together and share the same meals and labors of our fraternity. The Author Dan Brown wrote a letter to the Scottish Rite addressed to Guests of the Southern Jurisdiction dated October 6th 2009. In this letter Mr. Brown says: “In the past few weeks, as you might imagine, I have been repeatedly asked what attracted me to the Masons so strongly as to make it a central point of my new book. My reply is always the same: ‘In a world where men do battle over whose definition of God is most accurate, I cannot accurately express the deep respect and admiration I feel toward an organization in which men of differing faiths are able to ‘break bread together’ in a bond of brotherhood, friendship, and camaraderie.’”
Relief
To relieve the distressed is a duty all men feel; but particularly Masons, who are
linked together by an unbreakable chain of sincere affection. The grand aim we have
in view is to soothe the unhappy, to sympathize with their misfortunes, to empathize
with their miseries, and to restore peace to their troubled minds. On this basis
we form our friendships and establish our connections both with Masons and non-
Truth
Truth is a divine attribute, and the foundation for every virtue. To be good and true is the first lesson we are taught in Masonry. How many of us grew up with the phrase “the truth will set you free”? With truth always on your tongue you will never feel uneasy to talk with anyone.
Therefore, while influenced by this principal, hypocrisy and deceit should be unknown among us, sincerity and plain dealing distinguish us, and the heart and tongue join in promoting each other’s welfare, and rejoicing in each other’s prosperity.
Membership is the lifeblood of any organization. From the church group to the softball league and yes even to this grand old fraternity of ours, Membership is critical to sustaining the life of the lodge. I have heard it stated many times that a lodge needs three generations to be a living and viable lodge. This is symbolic of the three stages of life, youth, adult, and elder statesmen. The lodge symbolizes this through the three degrees in Masonry; that of Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and the Sublime degree of a Master Mason. Studies have shown that for our lodge to remain at its current number of members we must raise four new Master Masons per one hundred members. The simple math for this is we need to raise 12 Master Masons this year and every year for the future. And we must of course do this while maintaining the standards for membership.
Every brother has knocked on the door of Masonry for admittance.
To become a Mason, You must ask a Mason!!!
Sincerely and fraternally:
Mark Kirkman
Worshipful Master
